“It’s a bit driech.”
Now there’s a word. A word that sounds exactly like what it is. The weather WAS dreary and bleak. Driech.
“You shoulda come in April.”
“But,” I say to the well-meaning cabbie, “The Smile won’t be playing in April.” He is blissfully unaware of my Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood obsession. I fill him in.
After some small chit chat on what my plans are, I explain to him the concept of the Art Safari. Hip him to this year’s1 “Art” which is music themed, so technically it should be “Arts” Safari but details, details.
I ask if he has suggestions for OTHER musically-related to-dos in Glasgow, which is heavily bragged about as a music city.
“I’m not much good for that,” he says, meaning suggestions, particularly since I’ve already mentioned the things he would’ve said (Barrowlands, King Tut’s Wah-Wah Hut). But he does give some good general tips for things to do and see. The West End. Tells me it’s easy to jump on a train and hit Edinburgh for the day.
“You shoulda come in April.”
Ok, fella. I get it. Noted for next time.
But hey, this is supposed to be a quick letter and an apology, not an itinerary. A letter from Glasgow from the Captain of this vessel and it’s just to let you know that I’m interrupting our regular scheduled service to tell you there is “No post this week (except for this one).”
Sorry. Doing a creative tank refill so that I may better refill yours in the year ahead.
I will resume The Stream’s regular format next week when I’m back.
As an apology mea culpa, here’s a photo or two from my walk yesterday as I attempted to ward off jet lag by counting steps.
Get to creating while I’m away.

Remember last year? Remember how I drove from Santa Cruz to Scottsdale Arizona on a whim to look at Mark Maggiori paintings?
