Behind the Streams, Ep. 31: "Everest"

Grab your ice axe and let's chip away at the concept of Neverest in today's behind the scenes video.

If you didn’t read this week’s post “How to Climb Everest” I will read it to you now, in dramatic and enthusiastic fashion, below. 👇

Reading commences as soon as you hit play. Enjoy!

Notes from the Captain

Crew, does all this talk of mountains bother you?

I’m at you to go scale, explore, or commune with them, and this week’s post was the second time I’ve brought them up in as many months. Am I obsessed? Am I becoming too single-minded? Too focused on crags and crevasses and mountain goats?

Nah.

The geological features of our brains are there to be explored and jumped upon like trampolines.

Everest is not a trampoline, but a Neverest can be.

It’s been a while since I’ve started a new Neverest—I’m still climbing this one—but the call is always in the air.

Seek out the summits. Enjoy the climb. Survive it all.

These are the Captain’s orders.

As always, I salute you in your pursuit of Neverest

Side note: The “nothing ever dies and nothing never dies” line. I think I may have used that in a post before but I can’t for the life of me find it. Maybe I haven’t used it before and the rhythm of it or the construct is the same? Either way. Doesn’t matter. The ever and never of life, crew. That’s the flow. Nothing and something.

I love life—the riddle of it—and my constant Neveresting while exhausting at times, brings me continual cell and soul regeneration. I hope you are on an expedition even as I write these words to you.

Until next week, eat your lemons and limes, be good to each other, and watch out for that crevasse.

Your Captain, Janeen 🫡

Thangs from this episode…

👩‍✈️ Dangers of Everest

This video was the inspiration for Monday’s post. Everest sounds fun!

👩‍✈️ Who is Lazy Susan?

My brief mention of Susan in the video got me a-Googling.

👩‍✈️ AITA?

The intro of this week’s video was a nod to AITA posts. See how relevant and in touch I am? If you’re unfamiliar with the whole “Am I The Asshole” thread on Reddit and don’t like to read, you’re in luck. There are a lot of accounts that read them out on TikTok.

👩‍✈️ Actual Asshole Song

This song was on the album Triple J Hottest 100, Volume 1, which I still have. This means I was blasting in my Subaru in Canberra as I noodled around on the dole, looking for direction in life, in 1993.

👩‍✈️ Every clock radio respawn for Phil

This is not every respawn, just the ones that showed the clock. It has been calculated that Phil was in the time loop in Groundhog Day for 33 years and 350 days.

Thanks for listening/watching and sharing. If you want to chat about any of the concepts in this week’s post—or just in general—feel free to leave a comment for the Captain (it me.)

Do. Make. Be.
