If you didn’t read this week’s post “I am in Love with a Robot” I will read it to you, dramatically and enthusiastically, below. 👇
Reading commences as soon as you hit play. Enjoy!
Notes from the Captain
Crew, oh, how I’ve missed you.
Is it too much to hope that you have missed me too? I know I was sending little messages on a Monday, but nothing like the full canoe, the total frigate, the complete Streaming river of thought (yes, thought) we so joyfully navigate together.
The goal of taking the month off was to stockpile posts and episodes. I can tell you right off the bat that I have failed quite spectacularly at this. It was a miscalculation on my part. I figured it would be a quiet time of year in terms of my other writing duties—the ones that pay the rent—but it rather inexplicably became very busy indeed.
Oh well. I don’t mind so much, and I make a tiny bit of headway. “Failed quite spectacularly” was an exaggeration. I apologize. It did give me insight on how to better manage the weekly slog of this thing that I love doing. Some planning took place. Some noodling.
It will, in the long term, lead to better writing I think.
Or I will just fall back into old habits—it could go either way.
Bring on 2024!
Glad to be back. See you on the water.
Your Captain, Janeen 🫡
Thangs from this episode…
👩✈️ Data is da best.
I showed a picture on my wall that perhaps demonstrates my devotion to Data. I’ve thought about taking it down many times, lest it scare off visitors, but it was drawn by my old friend, John, who was a cartoonist at The Canberra Times when I worked there. I love it. I am not taking it down.
I mean, find yourself a Borg Queen who looks at you the way this one looks at Data.
